4-star guard Javion Tyndale committed to Seton Hall on Monday, Sept. 21, 2026, he told ESPN. He’s the Pirates’ highest-ranked recruit since Isaiah Whitehead in 2014. Tyndale chose Seton Hall over West Virginia, Loyola Chicago, Providence, UNLV and St. Bonaventure. He cited head coach Shaheen Holloway, who led Seton Hall to the Sweet Sixteen in 2000 as a player, as a deciding factor.

“Coach Shaheen keeps it real with me, and I love him for that about him. He will push me and teach me to play with more patience, Tyndale said."'

The two share a lot in common. Tyndale and Holloway both played for legendary coach Kevin Boyle, and both are small guards with what Tyndale calls a "street fighters" mentality. Seton Hall has a consistent track record of recruiting point guards, and Tyndale, a member of the SC Next 100, continues that pipeline.

Tyndale had a standout summer. He won gold at the FIBA U18 AmeriCup, earned tournament MVP honours, and put up 19 points and 8 assists in the final against the USA. After strong showings on the Nike EYBL circuit, he played in Nike's NY vs. NY tournament in New York City. He then returned home for the Toronto Pro-Am championship night, suiting up for Team Brooks and leading them to a 151-125 win over the Pro-Am Select.

With his commitment out of the way, Tyndale has his sights set on leading a Canadian-heavy Montverde squad to the Chipotle Nationals title. Seton Hall, meanwhile, will add another Canadian to its roster in the fall of 2027.
